About University of Wisconsin-Stout

The University of Wisconsin-Stout, also reffered to as UW-Stout or Stout, is a member campus of the University of Wisconsin System and it's located in Menomonie, which is the county seat of Dunn County, situated in the western part of Wisconsin state, USA, and has a number of nearly 15 000 people, living within its boundaries, as estimated during the 2000 census.

The university began operating as Stout Manual Training Schools, in 1891, and adopted its current name in 1971, after it became part of the University of Wisconsin System.

It presently offers its students a number of 40 undergraduate majors, 54 undergraduate minors, 8 undergraduate specializations, 17 graduate majors, 4 graduate specializations, and 2 advanced graduate majors, about 750 undergraduate courses (1,600 sections) being offered per semester.

Athletics

Stout's athletic teams are known as the Blue Devils and they compete in NCAA Division III. Their distinctive colors are navy blue and white.

Notable Alumni

NFL players Tony Beckham and Jeff Hazuga, along with John Peterson, Olympic gold medalist, and Emil C. Kiel, U.S. Air Force general, are among the noteworthy alumni from the University of Wisconsin-Stout.
